Julia Cox

I graduated with a BS in Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2019, where I conducted research on the relationship between freshwater mussel larvae and river herring. After briefly working for a biomedical company, I became a research assistant at Woods Hole Oceanographic Inst. in 2020 where I worked on the Ocean Twilight Zone project and the Northeast US Shelf LTER. I am currently developing my research questions for my PhD at UCSB with my co-advisors Dr. Page and Dr. Miller. Broadly, I hope to use stable isotope analysis to study food webs in kelp forest ecosystems and to understand how kelp may influence commercially important species.
